Yeah, sounds like a waste of time, eh? Well, not so fast! We can't tell you how many times we have been in a wireless network environment and have heard people complaining about how they don't know how to connect. That is why we have complied this short guide for you...so you can be positive that you will be able to connect the very first time!

Before we begin, let's talk about some wording that may or may not be familiar to you.

WiFi - Hmm..this one is a touchy subject so let's just put it like this. If you see a WiFi sign or hear someone talking about WiFi, you will now know that you can connect your wireless device to their network.

HotSpot - An area where a WiFi network is set-up. In other words, if you have a wireless device, you may connect to it.

Anyhow, let's get going. Here is how to seamlessly connect to any wireless network that is open for connectivity!

  • Click on "Start" then "Control Panel". If "Control Panel is not shown on your start menu, select "Settings" first, then "Control Panel".
  • Double click on "Network Connections". You may need to click on "Switch to Classic View" to see this icon. The "Network Connections" window will appear.
  • Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon, then click "View Available Networks". If this option is not available, click on "Enable" instead. The "Wireless Network Connection" window will appear.
  • Click on the wireless network that you want to connect to. Then, place a check mark in the "Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure". Then, click "Connect".
  • Open your browser and connect to the Internet. If you are on a free network, you will be able to browse through the Internet as you would at home. If you are connecting to a paid network, your browser will be re-directed to a web page where you will need to enter your log-in credentials (username and password).
  • BINGO! You are ready to roll. Have fun!
